DOCUMENTARY-
Documentary photography usually refers to a popular form of photography used to chronicle events or environments both significant and relevant to history and historical events as well as everyday life. Documentary photography is a style of photography that provides a straightforward and accurate representation of people, places, objects and events, and is often used in reportage.
In 1952 Henri Cartier-Bresson, a founder of modern photojournalism, proposed one of the most fascinating and highly debated concepts in the history of photography: “the decisive moment.” This moment occurs when the visual and psychological elements of people in a real life scene spontaneously and briefly come together in perfect resonance to express the essence of that situation. Some people believe that the unique purpose of photography, as compared to other visual arts, is to capture this fleeting, quintessential, and holistic instant in the flow of life. For this reason, many photographers often mention the decisive moment, or similar ideas about capturing the essence of a transitory moment, when they describe their work.
Research-
My idea is kind of these two images combined as I want to put the hand over the glam side of the face and vice versa so you can concentrate on one side but I also want to try the quarter of the face with the same concept, so you would cover half of your face and then have the other hand horizontal covering the mouth and you could move onto covering the eyes so you can focus on the mouth and that would be the same for the other side, it's trying to portray the message of how people hide what they are feeling and they put up a front to not feel vulnerable to people which drains people into the point where they can't hold it in anymore.

More Research-
I'm going to use these photos for reference when looking at my photos that I took for this shoot, because they are all my ideas but in separate pictures, so I want to capture their facial expressions and the bond they have between managers, fans and each other, as you can see from the bottom photos.

AO1: Develop ideas through sustained and focused investigations informed by contextual and other sources, demonstrating analytical and critical understanding.
The intentions for my shoot were to take photos in response to some of them artists however I wanted to focus more on the relationship between the players with each other and their reactions to different situations whether they win lose or draw. These photos have a range of this with the added ball being played here and there. I also wanted to include the signs in the background or equipment to add depth.
5 Best Photos-
I chose these photos as my best five as I felt they each represented different situations and outcomes, from the start of the game to the end as you can see the first picture represents them as they're walking out and the third one is at the end of the match while the others are during. You can see the difference in how their moods are during the game most common in the 2nd photo.
5 Photos that need improvement-
I chose these photos as needing improvement as I feel even though they are in focus and quite sharp as they don't really reflect what I wanted to accomplish and what the aim of this documentary was. Most of these photos don't take into the concept of focusing on the players emotions/facial expressions. I need to crop some of these photos to make more definition in the way it has been taken and change the angles to fit it.
Edits-
Made the colours on the tunnel darker to focus on the kit of the players so it draws you attention to the green and the orange
Cropped the photo to focus on the player and manager, changed the brightness to make the whole photo lighter
Cropped the sides of the photos to make it more clear made areas brighter and added more colour vibrance
Made the parts in focus darker to show a contrast between the two.
I edited my photos using Photoshop to add depth and contrast towards my photos, which makes a difference with the background and the players to make sure they don't merge to one leading to why the colours are more vibrant on some of them then others, There is a bit of blur on some of them but I didn't edit that on there.
Editing Process-
I edited my photos like this to crop and adjust the brightness of the picture. The first thing I did was crop the image so it is more focused on the player/managers face and not really the person running in the background. After that I changed the brightness to decrease it to minus 51 and I put the contrast as 5 to add a bit of colour into it. I then used curve to brighten some areas like the background and the tops up to make it look more green and red so they pop. Finally I used vibrance to add onto the curve and then used saturation to deepen it also.
